Wicked Tasty

  • Sydney is an Australian-inspired cafe and coffee shop located in the Waterplace complex, just south of the Providence train station. we offer a full coffee, espresso and loose tea selection as well as house-made baked goods, breakfast, lunch and grab-and-go items. Check out their signature salad, which includes: organic mesclun, baby heirloom tomatoes, avocado, Kara Kara orange, slivered almonds, dried cranberries, homemade croutons, grilled baffoni chicken (optional), and lemon herb extra virgin olive oil emulsion.
  • Other signature dishes include our avocado smash, mini quiches, a roasted broccoli sandwich with ricotta salata.
  • If you’re on the run you can grab a latte or a pastry, perfect if you need to catch a train
  • High top tables, meet up with a friend, or hang out in the cafe to get some work done.
  • Sydney is based on the café culture in Australia where 90% of coffee shops are independently owned.
  • This café culture also focuses on the idea of actually taking a break to really enjoy your eating experience instead of the average American way of rushing through each and every bite.
  • Sydney was brought to Providence because of the similar ocean-loving surf culture shared between Rhode Island and Australian cities.
  • The service is quick, the staff is friendly, and the food is extremely fresh. What more could you ask for?

  • On Super Bowl Sunday, February 5th, the Westport Land Conservation Trust and Dartmouth Natural Resources Trust will be hosting their annual Super Bowl Walk, a hike that extends from the Slocum’s River in Dartmouth to the Westport River in Westport.
  • Conservation efforts in the area make this 6+ mile hike on almost entirely protected land possible. Here’s your chance to experience sections of trail not normally open to the public–and get a little fresh air before the Super Bowl. And for a special treat, the Westport Rivers Winery will be opening its doors to greet hikers–tastings and bottles of local wine will also be available for purchase.
  • The walk will begin at 11:00 AM at the Slocum’s River Reserve parking lot on Horseneck Road in South Dartmouth. Transportation will be provided back to your car with plenty of time to get home to watch the game. Be aware that trails may be icy, snow covered, or muddy. Proper footwear is required. The walk is free with a suggested donation of $5 per person. Westport Rivers will be offering discounted wine and beer by the glass for only $5 as well as a 20% off all take home wine for walkers whether it is one bottle or a hundred bottles. Dogs must be on leash for this event.

Providence Children’s Film Festival Tickets

The annual Providence Children’s Film Festival takes place in February at multiple venues within walking distance of downtown Providence, with over ten days of screenings, filmmaking workshops, and free activities, along with post-film conversations that help deepen the film-watching experience and foster critical thinking skills. During the festival, PCFF screens an average of 18 feature-length and over 100 short films—including live-action, documentary, and animation—made by filmmakers from around the world. Beginning in 2014, PCFF added the Youth Filmmaker Showcase, a juried program of films made by youth, followed by an opportunity for young filmmakers to talk about both the fun and the challenges they face during the creative process.
