  • Rhode Island’s newest chamber choir, Collegium Ancora,  returns to Grace Church with a program featuring songs of darkness, nighttime, and starlight, including Vaughn Williams’s Serenade to Music: a rhapsody in 16-parts based on Shakespearean texts. Other highlights include works by Brahms, Barber, Lauridsen, Stanford, and even a little Sondheim. We hope you’ll join us! Open admission, $10 suggested donation.
  • Dedicated to enriching the Ocean State through the arts, we perform music from ancient times & modern, sacred & secular, in celebration of the human voice.

Save The Bay Splash – Saturday 11am at First Beach in Newport

    • Save The Bay Splash is a family-friendly obstacle course followed by a cold water plunge into Easton’s Beach! All proceeds from the event benefit Save The Bay – Narragansett Bay, an organization dedicated to protecting, restoring and improving the ecological health of the Narragansett Bay region.

    • Participant check-in is at 10:00 am at Easton’s Beach Rotunda (in front of the Exploration Center & Aquarium). The first 125 to register receive a medal. The course takes approximately 5 to 7 minutes to complete.
    • After The Splash, registered plungers can dry off and warm up at the Exploration Center and Aquarium free of charge, where some 40 species of Narragansett Bay critters are on display. Plungers can also enjoy discounted tickets, at $15 per person (usually $22), or $14 for members for Save The Bay’s Newport Seal Watch Tours at either 1 or 2 p.m. out of Newport.

      • The Rhode Island Philharmonic Youth Symphony Orchestra (RIPYO) performs on stage with the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra in their annual Side-by-Side concert on Friday, February 17 at 6:30pm at The VETS in Providence, as part of the evening’s AMICA Rush Hour program. The concert, conducted by Music Director Larry Rachleff, features the top-level RIPYO Symphony Orchestra, led by Youth Orchestra Director and Philharmonic Orchestra violinist Alexey Shabalin, performing the final movements of Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite.  Also on the evening’s program is Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3 (Eroica).
