Culinary Herbs and Artisanal Cocktails

Blooming Artisan
Thursday, June 22 at 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM

Love the flavors that fresh herbs add to your favorite recipes and cocktails? Wish you had some on hand in your own kitchen? Jennifer Guerin of Blooming Artisan in partnership with Patsy Culp of And Celebrate invite you to celebrate the official start to summer with a DIT (do it together) Culinary Herb Planter and Cocktail Tasting Party at Candita Clayton Gallery.

A range of fresh herbs will be provided — some for sipping, some for planting. You choose your favorites and create a herb planter to take home with you. Don’t have a green thumb? No worries…Jennifer does! With over 25-years in horticulture, she’ll lead you through the arranging process step-by-step. Gather your friends, sip on freshly crafted cocktails, learn, laugh, and enjoy.

All tools and materials are provided for you. If you prefer to use your own container, please bring it along. A planter approximately 12” in diameter and 6”-12” tall will work best. Don’t have one? Don’t worry! There are two ticket options – with or without a container.

This special night includes cocktail demonstration and tasting inspired by our DIT herb planters. Snacks will be served to compliment our cocktails.

41st Annual RI PrideFest and Illuminated Night Parade!

June 17 – June 18
On Saturday, June 17, 2017 over 75,000 people are expected to participate in the RI PrideFest and Illuminated Night Parade with the theme When We R.I.S.E – Rhode Islander’s Standing for Equality.

The theme captures the urgency of cross sectional movements, while promoting unity within the LGBTQ Community. It is a call to action for our community, friends and allies to come together to resist the inequalities within our society and stress the need to rise up to defend our rights. The theme also celebrates the success that queer rights activists have already achieved while encouraging continued strength and action. When we rise. . . our voices will be heard, our rights will be protected and we will celebrate the diversity of our LGBTQ community in Rhode Island and Southern New England.

“As Providence continues to grow as the creative capital, we are excited to welcome thousands of visitors to the city to celebrate the diversity of our LGBTQ community and experience all the amazing events and programs during RI Pride,” stated Davide Gnoato, “As part of our theme this year, we not only rise to celebrate, but also to reignite the fight against discrimination and equality for all.”

The PrideFest will start at 12noon and continue until 7pm and will be located on South Water Street. Access to the PrideFest will be through the South Entrance by Wickenden Street and a North Entrance at the start of Memorial Blvd and South Water Street. The PrideFest will feature a mix of live entertainment, a business marketplace with over 200 plus vendors, Kid’s Zone, food trucks, arts, Youth Center, and a beer, wine and spirits garden.

The main stage will be hosted by local celebrity Lulu Locks, Providence drag performer Annie B. Frank and comedian John Kelley. The stage will feature New England based gay dance party guru DJ Ephraim Adamz. Headlining acts include Providence based politically conscious and bilingual punk act known as The Downtown Boys who have appeared in Rolling Stone Magazine, The New Yorker, and Democracy Now. Local high energy dance rock act Jodi Jolt and The Volt will also appear on the main stage along with countless other acts representing various genres and drag performers! An additional entertainment option will include, for the first time ever this year, an acoustic stage showcasing emerging performers and poets. The stage, hosted by local singer-songwriter and Mx. Bisexual 2017 Tammy Laforest will be headlined by the enchantingly dynamic acoustic duo Tammy & Jeana.

Illuminated Night Parade

New England’s only night pride parade kicks off at 8pm and is one of the highlights to the celebration with a dazzling display of floats, performing artists, marching groups, businesses and spectators that wind through downtown Providence and culminate at the RI Pride Reviewing Stand under the historic marquee of the Providence Performing Arts Center. Spectators can watch the parade on Dorrance Street and continues down Washington Street, then Empire street and ends on Weybosset Street. The energy in the city is electric and we send an open invitation to everyone to participate in the weekend events that transform the City of Providence into a vibrantly visible LGBTQ city. If you are interested in participating in the parade or festival, please sign up online at http://www.PrideRI.com/
