House Of The Dragon With Mary & Blake is Mary & Blake Media’s TV-first House Of The Dragon podcast, with episode recaps, reactions, listener feedback, character analysis, story craft, theories, dragon nonsense, and a frankly irresponsible amount of conversation about the Targaryen family.
After every episode, we pull up a chair and talk through what happened, why it mattered, which character made the worst possible decision available to them, what worked underneath the storytelling, and where the Dance of the Dragons may be headed next.
Spoiler policy: We have read A Song of Ice and Fire, but we have not read Fire & Blood. Our coverage is TV-first. Once an episode has aired, we discuss that episode in full, but we avoid knowingly spoiling future events from George R. R. Martin’s history of the Targaryen civil war.

What You’ll Get In Every Episode
- Recap & reaction — what happened, what mattered, and the moments that made us yell at the television.
- Character analysis — Rhaenyra, Alicent, Daemon, Aegon, Aemond, Helaena, Daeron, Corlys and everybody else trapped inside the Targaryen disaster machine.
- Story craft — why a scene works, why another one does not, how character choices create consequence, and what the writers are actually doing underneath the dragons and spectacle.
- Political and family drama — power, inheritance, legitimacy, propaganda, resentment and the astonishing ability of this family to turn emotional wounds into national policy.
- TV-first theories — where we think the show may be headed without using future Fire & Blood events as a cheat sheet.
- Listener feedback — your theories, disagreements, questions, hot takes, ratings and emotional damage after each episode.
Why Mary & Blake Cover House Of The Dragon This Way
We love the dragons. Obviously.
But House Of The Dragon gets really interesting when the spectacle becomes consequence.
The heart of this show is not simply who sits the Iron Throne. It is what happens when grief, inheritance, family resentment, prophecy, political power and self-mythology become impossible to separate from one another.
That is why our conversations tend to move beyond simple plot recap. We want to know why Rhaenyra makes the choice she makes, what Alicent needs to believe about herself, why Daemon keeps discovering that power cannot solve the thing actually hurting him, why Aegon and Aemond understand legitimacy so differently, and what the story is saying when another person convinces themselves that a dragon will solve an emotional problem.
Sometimes the answer is profound.
Sometimes the answer is that somebody has made an absolutely bananas decision while standing next to a giant fire-breathing animal.
Both are worth discussing.
