In this episode, Rhys and Felicity supercharge the studio with Raichu—Pokédex #26 and the high-voltage evolution that turns Pikachu’s cute sparks into full-on lightning strikes.
They jump into Raichu’s pure Electric typing, explaining how it dominates Water and Flying types but completely fizzles out against Ground types (because Ground is immune — instant bad day). Rhys and Felicity break down Raichu’s abilities Static and Lightning Rod, and why Lightning Rod can turn Raichu into a sudden Special Attack powerhouse when timed right.
The siblings also explore Raichu’s physical differences from Pikachu: bigger, heavier, stronger, and packing way more wattage. From its unique tail that acts like a grounding wire to prevent overcharging, to its ability to unleash powerful electrical bursts, Raichu proves to be much more than a simple evolution — it’s a serious threat in battle.
They dive into fun facts, including Raichu’s cheek-based electricity storage, how intense its electrical output can be, and the special Alolan form that becomes Psychic/Electric and literally surfs on its tail. The episode also covers the full evolution line from Pichu → Pikachu → Raichu, giving listeners the complete “electric family” history.
Finally, Rhys and Felicity share whether they’d add a Raichu to their team (spoiler: yes), and wrap things up with a power-themed joke that hits the mark.
Also in this episode:
Raichu’s Traits and Abilities:
A pure Electric type with Static (chance to paralyze on contact) or Lightning Rod (draws in Electric moves and boosts Special Attack), making Raichu both disruptive and surprisingly dangerous.
Physical Characteristics:
About 2’7″ tall and 66 pounds — larger and far more charged-up than Pikachu. Its long tail acts as a grounding wire to prevent electrical overloads.
Behavior & Battle Power:
Raichu stores large amounts of electricity in its cheeks and can release extremely powerful Electric attacks. Fast, strong, and great for offense.
Regional Variant:
Alolan Raichu becomes Psychic/Electric and surfs on its tail, giving it a totally unique fighting style and aesthetic.
Evolution Line:
Pichu → Pikachu (via friendship) → Raichu (via Thunder Stone). A simple but iconic evolutionary path.
Sibling Banter:
Plenty of sparks, jokes about lighting up a whole school, and appreciation for Raichu’s impressive power and speed.
