“Ratings Are For Shows That Don’t Break Your Trust” | Outlander: 8.08 Listener Feedback

Mary & Blake discuss listener feedback for Outlander Season 8 Episode 8, “In The Forest.”

After the emotional chaos of Episode 8.07, the fandom finally got a chance to breathe. Episode 8.08 felt like classic Outlander again for a lot of listeners: family at the Ridge, Jamie and William finally facing the wound between them, Roger actually working, and Ron Moore’s writing reminding everyone why this show can still hit when it slows down and lets people be human.

Outlander Season 8 Episode 8 Listener Feedback

In this listener feedback episode, we get into your reactions to “In The Forest,” including why Jamie and William’s hug wrecked so many people, why Fanny hearing the buzzing has everyone nervous, and why Lord John walking into yet another trap this late in the season has the fandom asking one very fair question: what are we doing?

We also revisit the lingering fallout from Fergus’s death, whether Marsali leaving the Ridge makes any practical sense, why Frank’s “Deadeye” reveal works emotionally even if the mechanics are doing a lot of volunteer labor, and whether the show is trying to serve the parent story or build an Outlander universe before the main series has fully landed the plane.
