Hosts Mary and Blake continue to discuss episode 2.05 of The Leftovers entitled, “No Room At The Inn.”
In his episode you’ll learn all about: revisiting Matt’s insanity, desire to watch a show if a woman is taken advantage of, Matt galvanizing himself and his surprising community, talking about the excellent Brian Davids thought of the week again, theories about how many people can actually be in Miracle, Erika and John’s possible guilt over her, revisiting the conversation between Matt and John from a different perspective, burrito’s and gas, and much more.

I look forward to this every week! I gotta say I cannot believe we are half way thru the season? Thanks for the reminder, Not! HaHa! – Loved the feedback from all of the fans about whether Mary woke up or not? Blake & Mary, you both really have a fantastic way of pulling all of this together and giving us such a treat every week! It seems most of us believe Mary woke? We shall see, Right?
I have listened to two different podcasts about this episode and both sets of commentators focused on the issue of whether Mary actually woke up or not. I don't think we're asking the right question. What if this 'miracle' baby is the result of immaculate conception? What if Mary did wake up and she and Matt just talked like he said initially? Now Mary's pregnant and Matt, a man of faith, knows that a miracle has occured. He didn't sire the child but will do whatever he can to protect what could be the second coming of Christ. The clues are all over the episode – Mary's name, the fact they couldn't have kids, the episode title, the good samaritan imagery, the fact that Matt never mentioned sleeping with Mary until he had to. Just an idea…
Lucy – thank you so much for bringing this idea to the table. I think it's certainly a possibility considering the supernatural feeling to Miracle. I suppose most of us take Matt at his word when he says he made love to Mary. But if we go down the rabbit hole you're suggesting, why would Matt deny the idea of Immaculate Conception? He seems strong enough and confident in his faith to allow for that idea. Especially since he appeared to be so emboldened by episodes end? What do you think about that?
