I am so excited to be listening to the podcast with the show in real-time! Found the podcast last year and was able to rewatch the show and listen to all of the podcasts during Droughlander. There have been many times when I thought “NO Blake!” during a podcast and now I can reply! In my view, the sex scene was an absolutely necessary part of this episode. There were several mentions of Claire being okay after the trauma she went through. She tells both Jaime and Bree she is okay. And seeing her with Jaime, that connection that is so strong, was a way of showing us, or proving to herself, that the trauma she endured was not going to break her, as she stated during the end of last season. This made the scene with the ether and her self-medication that much more poignant. Like many, many, many women, she is suffering in silence.
