What Season 2 Is Setting Up

Season 1 leaves both central love stories together emotionally but separated by circumstance. Brian and Ellen have chosen each other, but that choice has created enemies, bloodshed, and a political mess neither of them can simply outrun. Their relationship now has to survive the Fraser, MacKenzie, Grant, and Jacobite forces closing around them.

Henry and Julia face a different kind of separation. Their attempt to reach Craigh na Dun forces Henry into a desperate decision that may have sent Julia through the stones without him. Season 2 therefore begins with the same problem that has always powered the best parts of Outlander: two people have chosen each other, and history has other ideas.

The difference now is that the show no longer has to spend an entire season introducing the board. We know these families. We know the loyalties. We know the relationships. Season 2 gets to start applying pressure.

Where Season 1 Left Everyone

The Love Story
Brian & Ellen
They have chosen each other, but Castle Leoch, family obligation, political conflict, and the consequences of Malcolm Grant’s death are waiting.
Across Time
Henry & Julia
Their reunion leads them back toward the stones, but Henry’s final decision threatens to separate them across time all over again.
Clan MacKenzie
Colum, Dougal & Jocasta
Ellen’s family remains caught between clan survival, political obligation, marriage, and relationships that refuse to stay under control.
Clan Fraser
Brian & Lord Lovat
Brian’s relationship with Ellen does not erase Simon Fraser or the power Lord Lovat still holds over Brian’s family and future.

Blood Of My Blood Season 2 Cast

The core cast returning to the center of the story includes Harriet Slater as Ellen MacKenzie, Jamie Roy as Brian Fraser, Hermione Corfield as Julia, and Jeremy Irvine as Henry Beauchamp.

The larger Outlander family continues around them, including Tony Curran as Simon Fraser, Lord Lovat; Séamus McLean Ross as Colum MacKenzie; Sam Retford as Dougal MacKenzie; Rory Alexander as Murtagh Fitzgibbons Fraser; Conor MacNeill as Ned Gowan; and Sara Vickers as Davina.

Season 2 also gets to deepen relationships that Season 1 only began putting on the board, including Dougal’s connection to Maura Grant and the growing political consequences surrounding both clans.

Characters To Watch In Season 2

Season 1 introduced the family tree. Season 2 gets to make those relationships hurt.

The Big Time-Travel Questions

Julia and Henry completely change the time-travel side of the prequel. Their existence in the 18th century turns what initially looks like a straightforward historical origin story into something much more recognizably Outlander.

Season 2 now has to deal with the consequences. Where did Julia go? Can Henry follow? What happens to their children? And how does any of this eventually produce the version of Claire’s childhood that the original series told us about?

Blood Of My Blood Season 2 Trailer & Teasers

STARZ has released Season 2 teaser footage, and the early material points toward separation remaining part of the season’s emotional machinery.

Brian and Ellen appear to be pulled toward war and family obligations while Henry and Julia’s time-travel story remains unresolved. The footage also pushes younger versions of Murtagh, Dougal, and the wider clan conflict further onto the board.

When Mary & Blake publish our full Season 2 trailer reaction and breakdown, we’ll add it here so this remains the permanent home for both the utility information and the deeper story analysis.

How Mary & Blake Are Covering Season 2

We’ll cover Season 2 the same way we cover Outlander at its best: not by simply repeating what happened, but by asking what the episode is actually doing underneath the plot.

Every week, this page will collect our episode recaps and reviews, Outlander Cast recap and reaction podcasts, listener feedback, character and mythology explainers, theories, fan-temperature pieces, and any One Scene That Matters analysis the episode genuinely earns.

We’ll also keep using our BomB Impact rating: how much does this episode of Blood of My Blood actually enrich, complicate, or recolor the original Outlander story?
