The first four episodes arrive together on November 11. Episodes 5 and 6 follow on November 18, and the final two episodes — Episodes 7 and 8 — arrive November 25.

What Is The Rings Of Power Season 3 About?

Season 3 begins five years after the fall of Eregion with Middle-earth already at war. Sauron’s armies have spread across the world while only a handful of major strongholds remain outside his control.

Khazad-dûm has become increasingly isolated beneath the mountain. Lindon and the newly established Rivendell remain protected by the Three Elven Rings. In Mordor, Sauron has completed Barad-dûr and is pursuing the next stage of his plan.

He wants to forge the One Ring.

That objective gives Season 3 something the series has often struggled to maintain: one central source of dramatic pressure connecting nearly every storyline. Sauron is no longer a mystery hiding inside somebody else’s identity. He is the active force trying to dominate Middle-earth, and every kingdom now has to respond.

Why Is There A Five-Year Time Jump In Rings Of Power Season 3?

Season 3 begins five years after the fall of Eregion. That allows the series to skip the transitional period between Sauron’s victory in Season 2 and the larger war already underway when Season 3 begins.

The jump also gives the consequences of the first two seasons time to become permanent. Rivendell can function as an established Elven refuge. Sauron can have Barad-dûr completed. Khazad-dûm can have changed under the pressure inside the mountain. Pharazôn’s control of Númenor can have developed beyond a single political victory.

Instead of watching every piece slowly move into position, Season 3 can begin with the board already changed.

What Happened Before Rings Of Power Season 3?

Season 2 ended with Eregion destroyed and Celebrimbor dead after Sauron manipulated him into completing the Nine Rings. Galadriel survived her confrontation with Sauron, and Elrond helped lead the surviving Elves toward what would become Rivendell.

Khazad-dûm was thrown into crisis after King Durin III confronted the Balrog. In Númenor, Pharazôn tightened his grip on power while Míriel and Elendil became increasingly vulnerable. Elendil left carrying Narsil, while Isildur remained separated from his family.

In Rhûn, the Stranger finally received the name Gandalf after confronting the Dark Wizard. Sauron escaped Eregion with the Nine Rings and entered the next stage of his plan.
